New Year Conversation Questions : Simple Present & Simple Past

These New Year conversation cards will help encourage fluency and speaking in your classroom in both Present & Past Simple Tenses while discussing what happened in the past year and what our expectations are for the new year. The prompts on the cards are designed to be used in ESL (A2-B1 level) groups but are also great as an after the holiday icebreaker activity for all subjects including speech therapy, small group counseling, etc. Sometimes it's nice to have a structured discussion format get all your students sharing about their holiday, focused and motivated about the year to come. Questions included are focused on the past year and the new year!

How to use them:

The questions can be used with individual students, in small groups or as a whole class activity. Have your students pick a card and answer the question to the best of their ability.

This is a full color pdf file. After printing the resource, I recommend laminating the cards before cutting. This increases durability and ensures that you can continue using this set again and again.
